Ian in the spotlight
On an ideal weekend, you can find me:
Eating a freshly cooked fish lunch with a glass of Rueda wine at Bar Miguel’s in Torre de Mar, Spain.
My favourite holiday destination is:
I love travelling around Europe, in particular Italy and Spain.
My favourite song to play in the car is:
David Bowie – Life On Mars?
The first album I bought was:
David Bowie – Hunky Dory.
If I could be any fictional character, I would be:
If I could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, I would win a medal in:
Watching Leyton Orient…
When the dessert menu arrives, I'm looking for:
Apple or rhubarb crumble.
The three qualities that draw me to new people are:
People who are interesting, amusing and well-travelled.
My pet peeve is:
People who push in when queuing.
The best gift I've ever received is:
The birth of my two sons.
The three people at my dream dinner party would be:
David Bowie, Winston Churchill, and Henry VIII.
The three small things that make my day better are:
Sunshine and a nice cup of strong tea.
Ian at work
Ian originally founded The Financial Practice Ltd in 1995. Following a series of business acquisitions in 2012, Ian established TFP Financial Planning Ltd in 2015 alongside Casey Mills.
Ian has seen the industry change considerably over this time, with three regulators coming and going during the period. Over the past 10 years, he has driven the modernisation of the business.
Ian’s wealth of experience means he is a specialist when it comes to working with people approaching retirement. His goal is reassurance; helping them every step of the way with patience and empathy.
Ian at home
Ian is a keen follower of most sports; he ran the very first London Marathon in 1981. Although he no longer runs marathons, he regularly watches Leyton Orient, which he says is his therapy!
Ian is an active member of the Maldon local community and has two young children. He spends his weekends trying to be in two places at once to watch his son’s football team play at various different venues!
Climbing and hiking in the Axarquia area of Spain is his holiday of choice.
The important stuff
All regulated financial advisers must be authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and therefore appear on their register. You can find Ian’s entry here.
Furthermore, all advisers must have an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing (SPS). This shows they are suitably qualified and have carried out the required amount of Continuous Professional Development (CPD). You should be wary of any advisers who refuse to provide copies of their SPS. You can view Ian’s SPS here.
