As ever, it’s been a busy month at TFP with a couple of our team in full-on exam mode! More of that in a moment…
Last month we held our first Client Advisory Group, a new initiative designed to gather feedback and suggestions for improvement, and opinions on how to develop our business in the future. It was invaluable to hear what our clients had to say, and one of the immediate questions that arose concerned the difference between ‘financial planning’ and ‘financial advice’.
As financial planners, we are well-placed to answer this question, which Casey has done in his most recent blog.
A reminder also that we’re very much open for business, and that we’re continuing to carry out meetings remotely, by phone or video conferencing. Please get in touch to arrange a chat.
More exam success for Connor
In the 12 months since he joined TFP, Connor has been working hard to obtain his financial services qualifications on the road to his ambition of becoming a fully-fledged financial planner.
We’re delighted to report that Connor has taken another huge step towards qualification this month by passing his R02 exam. This unit concentrates on the knowledge and understanding of investment products needed to provide advice, and how to apply the investment advice process.
What this means is that Connor has successfully demonstrated his knowledge and understanding of:
- The characteristics, inherent risks, behaviour and correlation of asset classes, and investment products
- The macro-economic environment and its impact on asset classes
- The nature and impact of the main types of risk on investment performance
- The performance of investments.
We’re sure you’ll join us in congratulating Connor on passing this complex and difficult exam.
Welcome (and congratulations!) to Jake
A couple of months ago we first introduced Jake to you. Jake is a graduate who wrote his university dissertation on the wealth management industry and recently joined us as a Technical Administrator to support Olivia and Connor.
Even though he’s only just joined the team, Jake has already passed the first of his financial qualifications! He used the time available in lockdown to complete his studies, and he has now passed the RO1 exam which focuses on developing knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry, including regulation, legislation, and the Code of Ethics.
As well as welcoming Jake to the team, we’d like to congratulate him on taking the first step to full qualification.
Dan celebrates his second anniversary
They say that time flies when you are having fun, and Dan has recently celebrated his second anniversary at TFP.
Dan joined us in September 2018 having worked in financial services since 2005. His areas of expertise are retirement planning, fund management, building investment strategies, and behavioural finance and he has quickly become an integral member of the TFP team.
Happy anniversary, Dan!
Olivia shares more baby news
Last month, we shared the happy news that Olivia is expecting her first child next year.
Well, we can now provide another update, and let you into a secret. Olivia and her husband Connor have revealed that they are set to welcome a baby…girl! Their daughter is due on 1st February, so we’re sure you’ll join us in wishing the parents-to-be the very best.
Back to school
As millions of children across the UK head back to the classroom, many of them will be heading through the doors of a new school for the very first time.
One of the new students at Colchester Royal Grammar School this autumn is Casey’s son, Zach. Joining hundreds of new starters who successfully passed the school selection, we’re told that Zach has settled in well in Year 7.
We wish him the very best as he goes from being the oldest at the school to one of the youngest!
